AuroraChasers is a victim of its own success. Since our launch in 2000, where the aim was to provide a few users with aurora alerts, the site currently receives over 1.6 million hits per year and has a user base of close to 3000 users around the globe. AuroraChasers sends out many thousands of alerts per day.

The service was provided for free back then, and still is today.

What does this site cost to run?

For machine costs, hosting, domain charges and bandwidth, my annual bill comes to $2600 per year. Managing the website, answering questions/email, providing advice on the aurora and locations and providing the improvements/ new functionality users ask for amounts to around 200 hours per year, which is time that is diverted from my regular income.

Donating Via Paypal

Paypal is a SECURE payment system used to to transfer money around the world. We have a Paypal account set up, and to send money to us, simply press the button for your currency below and follow the instructions.

Your donation will help to keep AuroraChasers running and provide all the new facilities that you the users require. At certain donation levels we will provide various gifts as a way of saying thank you.

If you donate in a currency other than US dollars, we will calculate an equivalent value for your free gift. At each level of donation, you also get the gifts from the level below. I.E. If you donate $41 you will receive priority alerting, Screensaver and the forwarding address.
