Here is some of my favourite links about the Aurora Borealis and information sources for monitoring it.

• Explanation of Kp Index and Magnetic Latitude. Find your magnetic Latitude.
• Geomagnetic Forecast in the last 24 hours.
• NOAA Satellite plot of the auroral oval. The activity level is NOT the Kp index, and quite high activity levels only equate to a minor storm, also the data can sometime be a few hours old.
• Aurora Sentry (N1BUG), current auroral oval and activity.
• Current estimates Kp index. Kp index is actually the measurement of activity in the last 3 hours, so it's old information by the time you have it, beware.
• Neural net prediction of Kp index.This is very useful, and predicts the Kp Index based on the ACE satellite data and the last Kp Index. Prediction leads event by about 45mins.
• Current Space Weather The current weather in space. Also has useful information about everything that's space related.
• ACE Satellite. Located at the L1 liberation point an hour away from earth.
