A fantastic display over Calgary, Alberta. This was the brightest display I've ever seen, and it lit up my back yard for about 5 minutes. Also I saw my first ever fireball (though the camera was pointing the wrong way at the time unfortunately). Couldn't make it to the mountains as normal as I'd had a Cognac and don't drink and drive! :-)
This year is going to be a great year for Aurora. These were all taken with a tripod and long exposure (30 seconds) on a Pentax LX SLR Camera. Film: Fuji Superia ASA 800. 28mm lens, f2.8.
You can be alerted for free an hour in advance of an Aurora Borealis occuring at your location with ADEC.
